I have a DCT2224, ph8. The firmware is 8.17. Whenever I do firmware testing and check the box that say Block Channel Update, my TV guide says One moment please. However, when I leave the box uncheck and restore, I have no issues. But after 2 days, my channels get erased. Can anyone please help me? thank you in advance

Are you saying they erase your channels in the NVRAM and if you write back the saved backup the channels come back?

The more details you give the better someone can help you. After all we can't read Minds Here. There are other ways to protect box to keep that from happening. All it takes is the desire to overcome your problem and READING. ALL THE ANSWERS ARE HERE.........

Thanks for the help. Actually, i have been a member for a long time and I have read and read and read and still don't know how i can fix my problem. Every method that I have tried has failed. The problem that I have is that whenever I write a fresh firmware 7.96 and nvram, after leaving the cable box for couple hours, the channels erase. I am using v.7.96 because in the past, I was able to block upgrade with changing the sequence 01 01 to 03 01 on the second to the last line on the nvram. However, it is not working anymore. I also have the same issue with v. 8.17 . I know the new version is 8.55 but for some reason, when i write a fresh firmware and nvram without any modification, my cable box doesn't upgrade. Any input is highly appreciated.

write a fresh code without modification, change 03 01 back to 01 01 on the nvram and write on the box and let it take the update. the 03 01 is blocking the update

i can also send you the new firmware by e-mail just pm me with your e-mail and specify the board o your box

What ISP provider do you have. IP address is an easy issuse to fix. If you don't have the Know how then just use the UID and UPM of a different box and you will get IP.

I just noticed that the reason that my channels go away is that after awhile the STATE option on interactive info changes from RUNNING to UNCONFIG. Does anyone know why it changes from RUNNING TO UNCONFIG and how I can fix it? Thanks

Try what I suggested and that should take care of the problem. And again, WHAT IS YOUR CABLE PROVIDER?
