Creating a new flash CFI protocol?

Post by usb4eva »

The XML file contains flash memory definitions as shown below. How do I create a "new" protocol with a new number so that I can read/write a Cypress S29WS128P device? Is there an existing protocol file I could use to start with that has the CFI protocol already?

<flash>
<id1>0xAD</id1>
<id2>0xDC</id2>
<name>HY27UF084G42B</name>
<size>0x21000000</size>
<protocol>0</protocol>
<block>
<secnum>4096</secnum>
<secsize>0x21000</secsize>
</block>
</flash>

How the chip is connected? Are you using JTAG to read the flash?
