Meraki MR33 Detection problem

Post by ccady »

I tried following the youtube video on flashing openwrt on the MR33 and I am stuck on the step requiring chip detection. The error message I get is:
-flshdct 0
Unknown flash type!
Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/phpbb3 c2h,d1h,80h,95h

As far as I can tell, there is connection from the ulink to MR33. The led indicator on the MR33 is red.

Any ideas on the issue?

This looks good if you get consistent value. You simply need to define it in the nandflash.xml.
I would line to see remotely why OFNI detect faild.

It turns out that the 360 clip is a little loose.
This is what was said.
"I took a exacto knife and bent each pin on the clip slightly outward. Interface connected and I was able to perform the flash successfully."

I too get this consistently:

Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/phpbb3 c0h,f0h,80h,94h

Should i check the nand pins, or modify the xml?

Yes it is IO0 not connect properly.
Read back data and see if 0xff can be read back.

I am still unable to id the chip:

Response is:

Unknown flash type!
Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/phpbb3 c2h,f1h,80h,95h

The MR33 is only connected to the clip and the status light on the mr33 is showing orange - as if it's making good contact with (some of the pins on the ) clip.

When i do a read all regardless of the succesful chip read, i end up with a 132MB (138.412.032 bytes) of binary - which does seem to contain some actual data

I am in chat and I can take a look remotely.
Please note you are not suppose to plug in 12V when doing NAND read using u-Link NAND.

If one of the pin is not contact properly, you will get some data back. Read the whole chip and you should be able to find which pin is not connected properly. A lot of empty data (0xff) and if they do not display 0xff then you know which pin is bad.
eg. Read back 0xfe tells IO0 is not connected properly.

When i received the u-link nand, the ribbon cable had a very sharp fold in it. Was that intentional?

Can you come to chat?
There is no ribbon cable comes with u-link NAND. Are you talking about the clip cable from 360 clip? That is not from u-link NAND.
All my cable from 360 clip does have the sharp fold for the clip and I do not see this is the issue.
The issue is more likely the contact from the clip to the chip. You might need to use needle to lift the missing pins a little or use some sort of spring to hold the clip down.

I have one issue regarding detect the NAND flash with OFNI. It needs a little bit more delay in some case. I will soon release 1.19 to fix this issue.

Hi,

I seem to get nothing on my nand
-flshdct 0
Unknown flash type!
Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/phpbb3 00h,00h,00h,00h
-getram 0 8400000

I have checked all the pins already. Am I doing something wrong?

No. You should still have connection issue. Post a picture how you connect the chip. Sometime you might need to lift a pin or two with needle.

Might it be because my u-link is not activated yet?
I have added a link to my connection

Yes. Just wait a while to get the code. Please notice the time difference.
