sbg6580

Post by cheeto »

Hey guys,
I got my hands on a sbg6580.
My idea, simply to learn how to clone (from a sgb6580 to another sbg6580)
As this is my 1st spi adventure, please bear with me. :)

I´m currently connected to the modem (i hope i am) using this scheme:
http://www.usbjtag.com/jtagnt/modem/sbg6580.php

Ok when using the USBJTAG NT software, i click on the ID nad i´m getting the following message:

-flshdct 0
Found Address= 00000000 SFDP Macronix 25X128

Does this mean i`m actually connected and i can begin the backup process?

Thanks guys!!!!!

Long as it gives you the chipset ID, which it seems like in the photo you posted. you are good to go.

Awesome, thank you for input!!
Regarding making a backup on the sb6580, I saw the video on how to make a backup on the sb6120. It seems somewhat different.

On the sbg6580 must I back up everything?
Boot., cfg, image0, images1, log, and all flash?

Thanks again

Hi folks,
I can't access my modems configuration menu when going to 192.168.100.1

Could it be locked? Is there a way to unlock it?

Thx!

:(
Just tried with the coax disconnected.

Is it possible the my ISP has locked it?

If it's "locked" can it be unlocked by flashing an unlocked version of the firmware?

Thx!

you can try to flash a virgin 6580 firmware on it, but if your ISP updates it and locks it again, there was no point on doing so.

I googled the manual for the sbg6580 and it says that i must go to:
http://192.168.0.1. In fact, that´s the default gateway.

This thing seems locked

that address is the modem/router Internal IP address, not the Modem GUI interface IP address.

Im going to try to get a hold of a firmware dump.
