DPC2100 pinout question

Post by cheeto »

Hi guys,
I have a doubt regarding the DPC2100.

I looked at the pictures and followed the diagram from this page: http://www.usbjtag.com/jtagdevices/dpc2100.php

How do i connect the ground? On the usbjtag NT i could any of these pins 2,3,6 or 8 and connect it to pin 7 of the DPC2100? In other words, I can use ANY ONE of those pins (2,3,6 or 8 ) but not all of them at the same time?

JTAG Name JTAG connector of USB JTAG JTAG on DPC2100
TRST Pin 1 Pin 6
TDI Pin 3 Pin 4
TDO Pin 5 Pin 1
TMS Pin 7 Pin 3
TCK Pin 9 Pin 5
GND Pin 2,4,6,8 Pin 7

Finally, i assume i should be using the USBJTAG NT software with this configuration:

CATEGORY: MODEM PROTOCOL EJTAG TARGET SELECT sb5100

Is this correct?

Thanks guys!!!

You only need to connect one of the GND connections from NT to pin 7 .

Also you would use the 5101 config as it has a BCM3349 similar to the DPC model you have.

Thank you, you're absolutely right! I did some more research and found:

SB5100: Broadcom BCM3348
SB5101: Broadcom BCM3349
DPC2100 Broadcom BCM3349

Now if i wanted ONLY insert a .cfg into my target modem would you recommend USBJTAG NT or UJmodem?

I assume the procedure in UJmodem would be
1) DETECT
2) Certificate INSERT
3) Save

Does that sound correct? The reason i ask is because
I've seen many videos of how to make FULL backups.
I however want to know how to make a backup / insert of the cfg.

thanks again!!

You can use either of the apps NT or UJ , note cfg and certs are two different things.

You will see in both apps the apps that there is a cfg tab to insert your cfg and to write it.

Loading certs is a whole other kettle of fish.

Using the All (UJ) or Allflash (NT) will allow you to make a full backup of your flash , I suggest you do this first on any device you connect to NT

Well after several attempts i finally got the usbjtag NT identify the DCP2100.
After extensive reading on this forum, i found something that solved my problem.

I had to avoid grounding pin 7 on the dcp2100. Why? Who knows..
Maybe it's necessary to ground pin 7 when using a usbjtag and not a usbjtag nt. I really have no idea.

Anyway, once i removed the ground wire, everyting started working properly.

It was a learning process. I actually Bricked it and unbricked it and put Haxorware on it. Now i'd like to put the original sb5101 firmware on it. (all for practice)
Strictly education but FUN.

Next target will be Docsis 3.0

Thanks again!!!
