converting 301 to 401 fr rs232

Post by duffy »

I had see that model 301 is missing rs232 port. However, the PCB is the same as the 401 and component can be added.

Maybe someone have the schematic of this part of PCB or had already added the needed components.

I think that a daughter board could be made with max232 and Rs232 connector on this board to make things easy. I will try to trace Rx and Tx signal on mother board to see where it can be probed. A small connector (for gnd, vcc, tx, rx and reset) could be added.

I guess that more model and more provider that can be compatible for testing, more chance to see similar data by login SPI.

301 and 401 use the same firmwire.

Seem more easy that I expected.

Solder max 232 (U30)
Add condensator between pin1-3 and another between 4-5
Check continuity between pin2 (db9 connector) and pin13 of max232
Check continuity between pin3 (db9 connector) and pin14 of max232
Add db9 connector.

Untested.....

for them they prefer to made a small interface board (maybe to save money), rx and tx signal can be probed on pin 12 and 13 of max232. Anyway, always better to refer to IC (max232) data sheet.
