What am I doing wrong here? I'm not reading the SPI Flash Chip... I get:
Copyright (C) 2010-2015
USB JTAG NT 0.68
Target: DPC3000
-flshdct 0
Unknown flash type!
Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/vbforum 00,00,00
I wired everything according to this http://www.usbjtag.com/jtagnt/modem/dpc3000.php
I'm using a second USB cable to power the SPI connecting Pin5 of U104 for ISP to the Red(5V) wire and Pin4 of U104 for ground the Black wire.
Need help reading the SPI

If you follow the page then you need to power on the modem not using USB power.TiOeM wrote:What am I doing wrong here? I'm not reading the SPI Flash Chip... I get:

Be very careful!

Figured it out, but had a series of obstacles along the way.
First was the external power source... A 5V external source doesn't work for me and it took me a while to find an external 3.3V source (I ended up using a SB5101 and used V+ from that board). I also ended up not using Pin5 of U104 but instead soldered the 3.3V to PIN2 of the SPI Flash chip... At this point, I was able to read the SPI chip.
Second was the flashing... For some reason forceWare_UBFI-v1.2-PUBBETA2.bin doesn't flash properly to the DPC3000. So I used forceWare_UBFI-v1.1r11.bin instead... after disconnecting from the external source I was then able to boot up Forceware and then upgrade with the forceWare_UBFI-v1.2-PUBBETA2.bin.
Just wanted to share how I got through this. Video tutorials are scarce when it comes to wiring up the JTAG correctly. Especially when it comes to how and why you want to connect the ISP instead of PIN2. I ended not using ISP and just soldered the 3.3V to PIN2.
