How about instrument clusters ?

Post by rainfade »

On many newer auto's the instrument cluster saves milage VIN in short it's married to the ECM.
Has anyone experimented with reading/writing the clusters using the bdm or usb nt's ?

I am guessing some of them have something as simple as a serial eeprom ?

I have had to reprogram to replace a cluster in a 2001 Ford Mustang, their system is integrated into the PATS (passive anti-theft system) if the data does not match it will prevent the vehicle from starting. It will send a "U" code on some vehicles if data does not match. The reprogram was dealer only. I think it is specific to the EEPROM not for sure, I will check with ALL DATA for a schematic.
