Default JtagNt pins

Please excuse if am asking this question in the wrong area. I been used to Doc2 modems where u can't mess up the connect am now trying to do doc3 and not sure of pinout. The diagrams show pins 1 to 14 as straightforward but when I examine the plug I see even numbers on one side and odd th other which would make pin2 #3, pin3 #5, pin 5 #9 etc. can someone please confirm if am seeing this right.

Thanks for responding, So when I plug in a ribbon without the socket and am going down the list from red (1) to 14 do I go with the pin 2 as 2 and 3 as 3 ect or 2 as 3 and 3 as 5 ect because the tutorial is makes it seems as it's straightforward. Ave been trying both ways for a while with no success.

USB JTAG NT's pinout is compatible with MIPS JTAG pin out. (Read the pdf manual comes with software).
If your target is MIPS then you can simply use it (10 pin as of in some modems, 12 pins as of in some routers).
If your target is not MIPS then you need to use jumper cable to connect it properly. These pins are needed.
GND, TRST,TDI,TDO,TCK,TMS. (RST pin is optional but nice to have).
