Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X Support

Post by ricktendo »

This tiny yet powerful router has a 14 pin EJTAG adapter, is it possible to add support or can you tell if its already supported by an existing config?

Attached you will find the serial boot log from my router, with flash layout and NAND ID

Also look at this wiki dev page with the other modem details including the CPU info

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Ubiquiti_Netw ... geRouter_X

Thanks

It is MIPS JTAG and should be able to add to the support if we have the GPL code.

Is this a popular router? The only place I can find it is on ebay.

Yes, the EdgeRouter X and Ubiquiti is a very popular model/brand

I know a guy (and many others) trying to recover one of these and he is open to suggestions from me, I would suggest he purchase a usbjtag nt if it was supported

Bump, any update on the possibility of adding JTAG support for this router?

Especially now that Ubiquiti has released v2.0.0 many EdegeRouter X/SFP users have bricked devices.

What is the best place to get one? I need to write code for this router since it is NAND chip and special code needs to be written for it.

New firmware released to beta testers, seems like they have confirmed there is a serious problem with the ER-X and the 2.0.x branch.
Note 3: We do not release v2.0.3 for ER-X/ER-X-SFP/EP-R6 models because we still did not fix regression from v2.0.0 that is causing random filesystem corruption of ER-X. When running stress tests on lab routers we were able to reproduce this issue few times - it seems that SQUASHFS filesystem image somehow becomes corrupted when ER-X is low on RAM, is doing a lot swapping and kernel's OOM manager is killing userspace tasks. Fix for this issue is not yet available because it's very hard to reproduce and catch filesystem corruption bug. WIP
