Reset Cycle Counter in PC Battery Packs
Good afternoon. I asked this question once before and didn't get any reply. So, how do I use the JTAG to reset the Cycle Counter back to zero in reference to a Dell Latitude D630 Rechargeable Battery Pack ? Getting only 2 1/2 years out of a set of Lithium-ion Batteries is unacceptible. Li-Ion batteries can easily go 5 years and possibly closer to 10. Someone here should know how to reset this Counter. And, if so, speak your piece. And, have a goodday !

Re: Reset Cycle Counter in PC Battery Packs
Properly charged and stored, li-ion batteries last longer than 5 years.
Now sadly, I doubt there is any way to reset the counter. What controllers they use have no test access port so JTAG in any family is out.
Usually these tiny controllers are programmed during chip production with no access to the nvram area.
I have several packs stored decades, gone dead from not charging, but like new they should come back to life.

Some of my information may be incorrect, incomplete,or just plain wrong. Seems I am human.
