Linux NT on Suse 11.3

Post by Koevoet »

I have tested the new build on Suse 11.3 , 32 and 64 bit.

On the 32 bit system , i found the folowing errors:
1. The software crashes on load and save on all instances , command/tab/right click
2. Drop and drag does not work.

On the 64 bit system there was only 1 error :

1. Drop and drag does not work

Other than that so far it it runs smoothly ,allthough there is a lot more testing to be done on it to be certain there are no more bugs.

I will fix those errors in another build. Did not realize that the 64 bit works fine. I might still make a 64 build just in case it does not run on some build of Linux (I prefer not have to build though).

Hopefully once there are more testers , we can identify the builds that work with just the 1 installation. 32 & 64 combined similar to Suse.
I will test Ubuntu 32 and 64 over the next couple of days unless someone else has them tested beforehand.

OK the crash is not a bug but GTK issue. The work around is to start the app with command " -style windows"

Like

"sudo ./USBJTAGNT -style windows"
"sudo ./UJmodem -style windows"
This will solve the issue.

Drag & drop issue not resolved on Suse 64bit with new build.

Still issues on Suse 32bit

Commands "sudo ./USBJTAGNT -style windows"
"sudo ./UJmodem -style windows"
not recognised on 32bit Suse , however i think this may be related to something else, will chat to you later about this.

32bit Suse works fine. The issue is you need to open another terminal and set the usb device to read/write two times when you plug in USB. I will find out how can solve this issue.
The new build had solved the drag and drop issue. 64 bit still needs to rebuild and I am working on it.

This might be of some help.

Suse 64bit is working perfectly now , the drag and drop issue has been resolved in the latest build.

I will work on the Suse 32bit version now , as well as a few other linux distro's

Running Suse 11.3 32bit under GNOME it works perfectly , it still throws out a GTK+ theme error in console , but the app starts and allows activation. all aspects of the software work as well , open, save, read, write, drop & drag etc.

On KDE there seems to be the issues that need resolving.

The drag drop might still have a bug. Please not if your original file is deleted after drop.
The reason is that on some linux build, the drag and drop uses MOVE event instead of copy event. I will fix this latter.

All issues now resolved on both 32 and 64 bit.

This includes working on both KDE and Gnome with no issues or crashes.

What are you running KDE or Gnome on Suse ? 32 or 64 bit ?

Also did you change the file permissions to 0666 as explained in this thread

If you start the application under root do you get any errors in terminal ? As i never really had any issues with Gnome 32bit , it worked straight away without even having to change permissions. I did however get a GTK+ theme error , but it still all worked ok.
