SB5120 problem found under USB 1.1 hub

Post by usbbdm »

This was found during logmein support.
When use USB 1.1 hub and program SB5120 modem, it will cmpram fail.
Work around use "speed 1" to program.
Will try to reproduce myself and see if I can fix it.

Actually this is not a bug. It is the feature of SB5120.
I have retested under USB 2.0 and it is the same.

To be able to show the issue do this on a working SB5120

Manually type
reset
program

Make sure you type fast enough and the box enter to TRAP on. Then if you try to read the box and it will be error. If you use "speed 1" you can read the box normally.

This has been found on SB5120 and not a bug. But need to be noted when you try to do cmpram. Strange enough if you do 12MHz programming it works just give your cmpram error. If you program with 12MHz speed and then issue speed 1 you can still find the cmpram passed.

I succesfuly debricked my SB5120. I am using 0.29a and speed 1, hub is 1.1.

When I try to change the MAC using UJMODEM 0.16 the cmpram gives OK (after a new MAC is entered and flashed) but when reading again the old MAC appears, so why cmpram gives OK?

I think there is second MAC address somewhere that has not changed. I will look into this in the future. How many people play with SB5120 firmware?

It is solved, I just press apply then write and that´s it the MAC address was changed. Now when I read again the cfg the new MAC address appears.
