I was getting fustrated cause i couldnt write to the modem, i could load, and write, but compare data always failed.

Some of the logs

Compare data Failed address 9FC00003,target 00,PC memory 04
Compare data Failed address 9FC10000,target FF,PC memory 33
Compare data Failed address 9FC00004,target 0B,PC memory 00
Compare data Failed address 9FC00021,target C8,PC memory C0

So i did a reset TSOP while jtag and power were connected.

Now i get the error code:

-detect
IDCODE 0334917F
Broadcom BCM3349
IMPCODE 00800904
EJTAG V1, V2.0
DMA supoorted
Unknown flash type!

There is 2files : boot 5100 and boot 5101
and bin 5100 and bin 5101 just for debricking modems : 5100 and 5101 in 220 version of BC USB Jtag.

In higher versions, there is only boot files, as it is probably enough in most instances to have boot to debrick.

I have used those files for debricking most stubborn modems.
Just yersterday I have used those files for debrcking 5101 with USB Jtag NT, works like a charm.
Never had to worry about peek and poke and correct addresses.

It of course gives a dummy MAC address xx:de:ad:xx:xx:xx
and similar serial #, so u have to put correct MAC and serial # afterwords.

Here I am trying to upload them, if not successful, then u may find those files in BC USB Jtag, version 220

Sorry, could not upload: exceed 97 kb limit for this forum to upload.
But you may find them in BC USB Jtag, version 220, under folder: Flash
There are two files: 2,048 KB each file, full flash, for each modem.

debrick 5100/5101 Patience

Post by mr.sky »

Guys, when debricking the above, and you are using speed 2.
Do not panic, if you do not see the blue progress bar right away.
Some folks, start hitting keys, or just unplug the unit.
Just let it do its work.
Also, I have always been successful, using the Poke method, which
you can find under 5100, and also the 5101 works the same.
Remember go slow when typing all the commands.

I have a motherboard with an erased BIOS. According to this page it's possible to flash the SST via jtag on the P5B delux.

MY motherboard, specifically, is the asus p5b-mx, as seen http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=J97UJny8SDGV7Vm1&content=download

I have the usbjtag nt and a proper bios file ready.

Then try the connection and see if you can detect the flash with NT. I bet it is mostly possible.

Ok, I'm actually still on the computer which this motherboard is for (not quite prepared to power down yet :P). I have another computer which I can flash it with once I do, however.

Anyway, so if I can get it to detect the flash, then does that mean I can write to it? What template would I use (I've really only used this to do 360s with, which I have to select what type of 360 it is for it to work right)?

Just create an xml with the same size of the flash and you are ready to go. Use latest NT software allow you to create xml for yourself.

Debugging unsupported device.

I working on a ADSL modem design using a Lantiq XWay Amazon-SE chipset with MIPS4KEc core (was sold off by Infineon).

I have purchased a USBJTAGNT to try and check that the onboard RAM and Flash are working and hopefully to program the Flash with uboot.

The Amazon chipset is related to the Infineon Lantiq XWay Danube chipset which as MIPS24KEc core.

I have made custom config xml file and added the vendor and chip.
config xml
<Test>
<Name>LantiqEval</Name>
<Cat>Modem</Cat>
<Protocol>EJTAG</Protocol>
<Endian>Big</Endian>
<IRLength>8</IRLength>
<DMA>No</DMA>
<ProbTrap>1</ProbTrap>
<Programram>0x80400000</Programram>
<Memorys>
<Memory>
<Name>RAM</Name>
<Type>0</Type>
<Address>0x80000000</Address>
<Size>0x008000000</Size>
</Memory>
<Memory>
<Name>Flash</Name>
<Type>1</Type>
<Address>0xB0000000</Address>
<Size>0x00200000</Size>
</Memory>
</Memorys>
</Test>

Addition to vendor.xml
<Vender>
<Name>Lantiq</Name>
<Id>0x041</Id>
<Part>
<Name>Amazon-SE</Name>
<Id>0152</Id>
</Part>
</Vender>

Output from ID command

-detect
IDCODE 20152083
Lantiq Amazon-SE
IMPCODE 00000000
EJTAG V1, V2.0
DMA supoorted
Unknown flash type!

<IRLength>8</IRLength>
Are you sure this is 8? try 5 to see if you get any other result.
