Anything 0.24 can do can be done with 0.29. There is not need to go back to old version.
The way to debrick has not changed from 0.24 to 0.29. Normally I do not encourage to use any older version of software. (I have seen people still use 0.05 software).
I know we can heavily brick SB5100 with hoxware programmed 2M to SB5100. (I did myself). This brick cannot be debricked with debrick command. I am still searching a more reliable way to debrick it. So far not much lucky yet other than the 3.3V aand CE method.

I have not tested this device. Are you sure this is MISP core (Broadcom, TI etc). If it is MIPS core, there is a big chance the UBSJTAG (NT) can fix it. If it is not, theew is no short plan to support other CPUs as I have too many device to test on. So go to the board and find the main CPU, post the CPU. In the mean time I will do some search about your device.

If you use pjtag you can unlock it but only use pjtag to write the boot to enable serial port. Than you need a cable to connect RS232 (Make the level convert with MAX chip), you then use TFTP to downgrade the firmware, then use the CYT tool to unlock the password.
Then you can go to VOIP setting.
With USB JTAG NT, you can bypass the serial port as the NT programs much faster than TFTP downloading.
